Chris Weidman recently responded to Anderson Silva calling him out for a boxing match after his fight against Tyron Woodley on the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua undercard.

Silva and Weidman were originally booked for a fight on the ill-fated Paul vs. Gervonta Davis card in November. While Weidman was later forced to withdraw from the fight due to an injury, the whole event was ultimately scrapped after Davis' latest legal issues came to light. Silva was rebooked for a fight against Woodley on the Paul vs. Joshua card at the Kaseya Center in Miami this weekend.

While many expected Woodley to give Silva a hard time in the squared circle, 'The Spider' put on an incredible striking clinic and defeated 'The Chosen One' via second-round knockout. In his post-fight interview (via @arielhelwani on X), Silva called out Weidman for a trilogy fight in the boxing ring and said:

"My Venom is Chris Weidman. Chris, I know you hurt your arm. I’ll wait for you to get better, and let’s do the show. Let’s show how ex-UFC fighters can do a good job in boxing. I’m waiting for you, Chris."

In their two previous encounters at UFC 162 and UFC 168 in 2013, Weidman beat Silva via second-round knockout on both occasions, winning the middleweight title in his first victory and defending it in his second.

It appears Weidman is now ready to face Silva again in the boxing ring. In an X post, 'The All-American' responded to his former rival's callout and wrote:

"Congrats to Anderson Silva! He called me out. Your Venom is here. I will see you soon... @netflix @MostVpromotions."

As a boxer, Silva was coming off a loss against Paul in October 2022. Before that, he recorded wins over high-profile fighters like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz.
