In the wake of Sherrone Moore’s dismissal by Michigan, a paragraph from Nick Saban’s book has gone viral on the internet. Moore was fired on Wednesday for having “an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”

Reacting to the news, a tweep, College Football Travel Guy, posted an excerpt from Saban’s book, “Saban: The Making of a Coach.” The paragraph shared in the post, which has almost 168,000 views, quotes Saban saying:

“Ultimately, you never want to sleep with anybody who has less to lose than you do. So, ultimately, if I’m ever going to sleep around on Miss Terry, it will be with Hillary Rodham Clinton.”

Saban’s admonition on sexual discipline for young men is expectedly resonating with a lot of netizens in light of Moore’s ongoing scandal. Saban had a wealth of experience spanning decades to draw on in making the submission he did in the quote.

Sherrone Moore’s short two-year coaching career has had its fair share of controversies, with the coach serving a multi-game suspension earlier this season. His rise to become Michigan’s head coach was not without some measure of controversy as well.

Moore succeeded his former boss, Jim Harbaugh, at the helm of affairs in Michigan football following the program’s national championship triumph in 2024. Harbaugh had been embroiled in a signal-stealing and recruitment violation scandal.

Harbaugh exited to the NFL, where he now coaches the Los Angeles Chargers. Moore, who was also implicated in the recruitment violations, served a one-game suspension at the start of the 2023 season.

What’s next for Michigan after Sherrone Moore?

The Wolverines have named Biff Poggi as the interim head coach as they start their search for substantive head coach candidates. Many names have been speculated as potential replacements, including former Alabama head coach Nick Saban, Colorado’s Deion Sanders, Kalen DeBoer, and so on.

Meanwhile, Poggi’s immediate task will be to guide the team to the Citrus Bowl against the Texas Longhorns on New Year’s Eve. The Wolverines missed the playoffs for the second time in Moore’s two years after finishing the season 9-3.

Poggi has previously guided Michigan to victories this season when he stood in for Moore during his two-game suspension in Week 4 and Week 5.
