Cooper Kupp makes a return to Los Angeles on Sunday as the LA Rams welcome the Seattle Seahawks in the first of their two games this season. The wide receiver was released by the Rams in March after failing to find a trade partner for the 2021 NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

Kupp, who inked a three-year deal with the Seahawks in March, now gets to face the Rams for the first time since leaving the team where he played eight seasons. While there's a lot for him to prove in the encounter, the wide receiver is refusing to have any revenge narrative for the game.

“You can't make this game about yourself,” Kupp said in his media availability on Thursday. “It just doesn't work that way. It's too much of a team game. There are just too many guys on the field doing too many things, working at such a high level.

“It's just about controlling what you can control, being a positive part of whatever is called, and executing at a high level and coming back and doing it over and over again. It would just be a shame to say I want this game more than any other game.”

Cooper Kupp was selected by the Rams in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft. He had his breakout season in 2021, leading the team to the Super Bowl while becoming the fourth player since the merger of the NFL and AFL to lead the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

Cooper Kupp believes it's a disservice to his teammate by making the game a revenge

Cooper Kupp made it clear during his media availability on Thursday that it would be wrong to make the Week 11 game against his former team more about his ambition than that of the team. He believes this is a kind of injustice to his teammates.

“That's a disservice to the guys that sit in this room with me, that would hold back anything from them because of my own ambitions or wants or desires,” Kupp said. “I'm coming in here every week and giving my all in my preparation and in what I'm doing. “And when I step on the field, you know you're going to get the best that I can offer you because that's what the guys here deserve. And so that doesn't change based on any outstanding circumstances for myself.”

Cooper Kupp has recorded 26 receptions for 367 yards and a touchdown for the Seahawks this season. As he noted in his media availability, he is aiming to give his best in the game on Sunday, thereby boosting the team's playoff hopes.
