Yet more snow in NYC could cause ‘hazardous’ conditions for commmuters

New York City faced yet more snow early Wednesday, potentially causing hazardous travel conditions for commuters, forecasters warned.

Flurries began falling in the Big Apple around 6 a.m., with two inches possible by 10 a.m., according to the latest update from the National Weather Service (NWS) — freshly coating streets that have not all been cleared fully from the monster storm Sunday through Monday.

Hitting during rush hour, the light snow brings the “potential for hazardous travel conditions,” the weather service said.

The highest accumulations are expected outside the city, across southern Connecticut and lower Hudson Valley.

The afternoon is expected to be dry, but another chance of light snowfall is possible late Thursday and Thursday night, according to the NWS.

More than 350 flights had been canceled across the US Wednesday morning, mainly at airports in the Northeast, which is still digging itself out of the historic blizzard that battered the region Sunday and Monday.

Both Long Island Railroad and NJ Transit trains and buses were operating on their regular weekday schedules.
