The Colorado Rockies began the season 8-42. That was the worst 50-game start to a season in MLB history.
On Friday night, in Game 51, they pulled out a 3-2 win over the New York Yankees. There have likely been few worse regular season losses in the history of this storied franchise.
Starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt shared his pointed thoughts with reporters after the game. And, as you read along, you'll note that he's clearly "pissed off."
“We’re all competitors in here. Anytime you lose, we’re pissed off,” Schmidt said. “We’re not trying to go out there and lose ballgames. It shows in here in the energy in here — obviously, everybody’s pissed off. But you play 162 games. You’re going to have games like this, nights like this where you don’t perform and you don’t get the job done. Obviously, it pisses you off. I’m pissed off right now. So yeah, it definitely pisses you off.”
