The New York Yankees are starting to right the ship after hitting a brutal slump over the last few weeks. Aaron Boone’s team has won two straight and now sits at 45-32 and 2.5 games ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East.
Aaron Judge is starting to find his footing again amid his worst stretch of the season. The Yankees slugger is still a prime candidate to win his third AL MVP award, and he’s had help in 2025. A unique combination of young talent and new faces on the roster have contributed so far, and several of these players are putting together All-Star caliber seasons.
Another wave of voting came on Monday with a few New York players in a position to make the American League team. NY Daily News Sports’ Gary Phillips noted a few key takeaways in this recent update.
The Yankees beat writer reported that Judge is still the MLB’s top-vote getter, while Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has overtaken New York’s Paul Goldschmidt at first base in voting. Meanwhile, second-year player Ben Rice is in second place at DH, behind Baltimore Orioles’ Ryan O'Hearn.
Cody Bellinger is also ranked sixth among outfielders during what has been a fairly encouraging season so far. Overall, more Yankees will make the All-Star game should this team continue to find its groove before the break. New York still has all its goals intact despite the roller coaster ride of season to this point.
