Yankees predicted to finally part ways with Jasson Dominguez, deal him to AL Central contender

The New York Yankees have a logjam forming in their outfield, as up-and-coming stars look to find a long-term role in the field, while veteran superstars already occupy the spots. One of those rising stars is the Yanks’ former top prospect, Jasson Dominguez.

Dominguez wants playing time, as seen from his 123 games played last season. FanSided’s Mark Powell believes Dominguez probably won’t get the field time he wants in New York, and proposes that the Yanks deal him to the Cleveland Guardians to get other things they need.

“Speaking of hot spring trainings, Jasson Dominguez has to be near the top of any list for breakout performers in the 2026 MLB season. The only issue for Dominguez is that he is on the outside looking in at the Yankees outfield. Dominguez projects as primarily a corner outfielder, and not a flexible one at that…But if there were a team that could use Dominguez's outfield talent, it'd be one that needs power added to their lineup and has room for improvement. Dominguez is destined to play for a contender, but just not the Yankees. Thus, why not the Cleveland Guardians? Cleveland's outfield has been a black hole of sorts since the start of last season. The Guardians could use some help in that department, as they had a collective OPS under .700 last year. Dominguez would be a phenomenal addition.” Powell wrote.

Last season, Dominguez slashed .257/.331/.388/.719 with 18 doubles, 10 home runs, and 47 RBI in 123 games played. However, this season seems like it could be his breakout, as in Spring Training, he hit .333/.380/.622/1.002 with two doubles, a triple, three home runs, 10 RBI, and three stolen bases in 16 games.

Times that by ten, and he could be a superstar. He’d also be cheap with multiple years of team control, something that would be incredibly desirable to a mid-market team like the Guards.

Hopefully, the Yanks get on the phone with Cleveland immediately, and get to work on sending Dominguez there.
