Yankees place Ryan Weathers on IL as he hopes his season isn’t over

The Yankees will lose Ryan Weathers for a while but they hope not for long. 

A day after exiting in the fourth inning with an injury, Weathers was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with what he said is a low-grade flexor strain — a diagnosis he said served as a relief.

Weathers said his UCL is fine and said the injury — similar but lesser to one he suffered last year with the Marlins — does not necessarily mean his season is over.

He was waiting to meet with team doctor Christopher Ahmad to establish next steps.

Without Weathers, the Yankees called up Brendan Beck and also activated Cody Bellinger from the IL.
