Yankees need to go after Padres reliever if he becomes available on trade market

In first place in the American League East, it almost feels like a lot of Yankees fans think this team is in last place, but that's just the reality of playing in New York.

The Yankees were expected to be one of the best teams in Major League Baseball to start the season, and while they haven't been great at times, the record indicates that they're still the best team in the American League at the moment.

However, it's still fair to say this team needs more on both sides of the ball, and with the trade deadline in a few months, the expectation is that they go out and do what's needed to improve on both sides.

As things currently stand, improving the bullpen should be a priority. Bullpen arms are always available at the deadline, and one recent name, Adrian Morejon, would be a very intriguing option for New York.

“Although the starting rotation has been one of the Yankees' strengths this season, the same can't be said about their bullpen. Interestingly enough, the opposite is true for the San Diego Padres. If they're looking to bolster their starting situation, a trade with the Yankees involving Adrian Morejon makes a ton of sense,” Devon Platana of SI wrote.

The 27-year-old left-hander has been one of the better relievers in baseball over the past few years, typically considered one of the toughest relievers to face. He's struggled a tad throughout the early stages of this season, posting a 6.17 ERA. However, he's thrown only 11.2 innings, and one of those outings was a four-run 0.1-inning outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates

Outside of that, he's been rather very good, and someone the Yankees could use. I'd be shocked if the Padres move on from him, but we never know what can happen.
