Yankees' lineup projection after George Lombard, Heliot Ramos, and Luis Garcia Jr. additions

The New York Yankees made a few moves before the MLB trade deadline, but didn't wind up addressing their infield or catcher needs.

But, they did add Luis Garcia Jr. over the weekend, and on deadline day traded for San Francisco Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos. But, after the deadline passed, Jack Curry of YES reports the Yankees are calling up top prospect George Lombard for his MLB debut.

So, with Lombard, Ramos, and Garcia joining the Yankees' big-league squad, the new-look lineup is one worth going over. Not only in the short-term, but what this lineup could look like when everyone is back and healthy, hopefully, for the postseason.

This new-look lineup with Ramos, Lombard, and Garcia in it would likely be moved around depending on who's pitching for the opposing team.

If a right-hander is on the mound, Spencer Jones could slot in over Ramos of Dominguez, while Jose Cabellero could also get a start here or there against left-handed pitching. Paul Goldschmidt would also slot into the lineup against left-handed pitching at first base.

While the current lineup is intriguing, it's a lot more interesting to think about what the fully-healthy Yankees' lineup could look like by the end of the season. To get a better idea, it's also worth looking at two full lineups, for LHP and one for RHP.

This lineup would be quite the spectacle, and it could even be adjusted to swap Grisham and Bellinger, depending on which is hitting better at the moment.

It is a left-handed heavy lineup, but it's a strong one that also features a few quality right-handed hitters in Judge and Lombard. The only odd-man-out here is Spencer Jones, who wouldn't start over Rice, Grisham, Judge, or Bellinger when they're fully healthy.

But, if any one of those players were to be out, or maybe Garcia isn't in the lineup, Jones could slot into an outfield or DH spot against right-handed pitching if needed.

The Yankees could have a very different-looking lineup against left-handed pitching, as they could have Garcia, Grisham, McMahon, and Wells all subbed out for right-handed hitters for a platoon advantage.

With some uncertainty around Stanton, the Yankees might also have to keep Rice in the lineup against left-handers, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it would be nice to have the power-hitting Stanton back in the lineup if possible.

Still, adding Lombard and Ramos, two right-handed hitters, will give the Yankees a lot more options with their lineup construction against left-handed pitching.

This projected lineup could change a lot as well, depending on whether Grisham or Garcia stick in the lineup, or if Ramos is moved up to the top of the lineup against lefties, or Bellinger earns a spot closer to the top of the lineup.

But, regardless of whether they're facing a right-handed pitcher or a left-handed pitcher, the Yankees will be able to send out a very strong lineup.

While it'll obviously look better with Judge, Bellinger, and Stanton back, following the additions of Ramos, Garcia, and Lombard, this is a very solid lineup for New York heading into the home stretch of the 2026 season.
