How will the New York Yankees handle Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s impending free agency?

That's likely a question the front office has discussed internally throughout the year.

Chisholm brings solid defense, power, and speed to the table, but he may want more money than the Yankees are willing to offer.

If that's the case and the two sides cannot reach an agreement, the Yankees could look elsewhere.

The possibility of Anthony Volpe or Jose Caballero taking over second base duties in 2027 is not out of the question. But the Yankees may prefer to add a more dangerous bat.

Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly recently listed five teams that could be a suitable fit for three-time batting champion Luis Arraez, and the Yankees weren't one of them.

Kelly named the Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, and Detroit Tigers as the best fits for Arraez.

If anything, Arraez should be an honorable mention for the Yankees.

They've reportedly had interest in him in past years, and his unique hitting profile would help create more contact in New York's lineup.

Plus, Arraez's defense vastly improved in 2026, recording +11 outs above average at second base.

Arraez would be a cheaper alternative than Chisholm, and he's only one year older than the latter.

A two- to three-year deal would make sense for the Yankees, and Arraez is looking to capitalize after another high batting average (.310) and respectable OPS+ (113) season.
