That was almost very bad.
The New York Yankees weren't involved in this All-Star Game exchange directly, but they were about to be impacted.
White Sox pitcher Shane Smith hit Diamondbacks slugger Eugenio Suarez with a pitch. It caught Suarez on the bottom of his left hand, smashing into his ring and pinky finger, a classic finger-breaking hit by pitch.
Suarez needed to be examined by the trainer but eventually stayed in the game.
The Yankees will be hoping it isn't worse than a bit of pain and a bruise.
New York has been heavily linked to Suarez as their answer at third base.

Arizona is likely selling, and the Yankees are certainly buying before the trade deadline.
Suarez, with 31 homers before the break, is the best option out there for New York to get in a trade.
If he had broken fingers, he'd probably be out past the trade deadline and greatly alter the possibility of getting a deal done.
But it seems, at least as of Tuesday night, like Suarez avoided disaster. And in the process, so did the Yankees.
