Welcome to a new edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's WWE News and Rumor Roundup for 16th December 2025. In today's edition, we'll cover the real identity of the masked man, Gunther's next possible target could be another Men's Grand Slam Champion, and some unfortunate news for LA Knight.
Let's get started:
#5. Unfortunate news around LA Knight following WWE RAW
LA Knight hasn't been able to catch a break on the red brand, as he spent most of 2025 feuding with The Vision. However, the villainous faction tried to stop The Megastar in his tracks when Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Logan Paul attacked him. To make matters worse, Reed hit him with a Tsunami on top of a crate, and the two-time United States Champion was taken to a medical facility.
On the latest edition of Monday Night RAW, Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore addressed the speculations around LA Knight's future following the attack. The commentators revealed that The Megastar suffered multiple injuries, including a cracked sternum, and will be out of action indefinitely.
#4. WWE confirms major title match
The women's division has been stronger than ever, as several major names in the industry are currently working in the tag team division. There are many teams like Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY, and more that are pursuing championship gold on WWE's main roster.
On the recent edition of WWE RAW, it was confirmed that Rhiyo, Ripley and SKY, will take on their longtime rivals and current champions, The Kabuki Warriors, Asuka and Kairi Sane, for the Women's Tag Team Championship on the first edition of Monday Night RAW in 2026.
#3. Masked Man revealed on WWE RAW
The masked man or the mystery man from WWE Survivor Series 2025 was one of the talking points of the show, as he assisted The Vision and allowed the villainous team to secure the win in San Diego. This also allowed Bron Breakker to face CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship in Brooklyn on 5th January 2026.
On the latest edition of Monday Night RAW, the masked man appeared in the show's main event to attack Rey Mysterio during his match with Logan Paul. After the match, he unmasked himself, and it was none other than Austin Theory. It'll be interesting to see what's next for the two-time United States Champion.
#2. What's next for CM Punk on WWE RAW?
CM Punk remains a constant enemy in The Vision's path on Monday Night RAW, as Seth Rollins created the group alongside Paul Heyman and feuded with The Second City Saint for months. Even after The Visionary's exit from the faction, Punk is still fighting against the group.
According to Fightful Select, the World Heavyweight Champion will spend the upcoming holiday and European tours facing The Vision's Bronson Reed. After the tour, Punk will defend the title in Brooklyn on January 5, 2026, against Bron Breakker.
#1. Gunther teases his next target on WWE RAW
Gunther became the most hated man in the industry when he made one of the most beloved superstars of all time, John Cena, tap out in his final-ever match as an in-ring performer in the Stamford-based promotion. On the latest edition of Monday Night RAW, The Ring General opened the show.
The two-time World Heavyweight Champion received a loud negative reaction and was eventually forced to leave the building. As he was leaving the arena, he crossed paths with AJ Styles, who's set to retire as an active competitor sometime in 2026.
Before Gunther could drive away from the arena, he stopped a final time and mocked AJ Styles with John Cena's signature taunt and left. There's a high chance that management will set The Ring General up as the man to retire legends in the company, and The Phenomenal One might be next in line come 2026.
