Former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin came up with a hilarious reply to a fan after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) acquired uncapped star Kartik Sharma for a massive price at the IPL 2026 auction. During the event in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16, CSK splurged ₹14.20 crores for Kartik.

Along with Prashant Veer, he became the joint-most expensive uncapped player in the history of the IPL. After his bid, Ashwin put up a tweet on his official X handle.

"Kartik Sharma at Chepauk.#IPL2026Auction."

A fan replied to Ashwin's tweet and claimed that the former Indian cricketer was the reason behind Kartik going for such a huge price at the IPL 2026 auction. On his YouTube channel 'Ash ki Baat', Ashwin identified and highlighted that Kartik Sharma would be a player to watch out for and could trigger a bidding war. (as reported by NDTV Sports)

Ashwin's words proved to be true. While the fan stated that it was because of the spin legend that the uncapped player's price fluctuated, Ashwin came up with a funny reply, asking whether the other franchises did not watch cricket and keep an eye out for domestic talent.

"Because of you the price has fluctuated like this bhai you leaked every thing," the fan replied to Ashwin's tweet.

Kartik Sharma plays domestic cricket for Rajasthan and is a right-handed wicketkeeper-batter. The 19-year-old has been impressive in his short domestic career so far across all formats.

In 11 first-class innings, he has scored 479 runs at an average of 43.54 with three hundreds. He has done equally well in the white-ball formats. In nine List-A matches, he has 445 runs at an average of 55.62 with two half-centuries and as many hundreds.
