Recently, some reports revealed a shocking insight about a WWE legend's final match in his career. It suggested that the WWE Hall of Famer wanted to be defeated in his last showdown, but his opponents refused to let him go out with a loss.
Professional wrestling legend Sting, who was a top star in promotions like WCW, WWE, TNA, and AEW, competed in his retirement match at AEW Revolution 2024. At that time, he was the AEW World Tag Team Champion with Darby Allin, and the duo defended it against the Young Bucks. In a pretty heartwarming showdown, Sting and Allin defeated the Bucks to secure their titles in the legend's retirement match.
According to Dave Metlzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the former WCW star wanted to lose his retirement match. He planned to drop the AEW World Tag Team Titles to the Young Bucks at AEW Revolution 2024. However, Matt & Nick Jackson refused to go over in the final match of the icon.
The decision went in favor of the legendary tag team. Sting fought in one of the most heartfelt showdowns in AEW history. With the full support of the entire world of professional wrestling, the Hall of Famer went out with his head held high at Revolution 2024.
WWE legend Sting confirms to bid an emotional farewell
Sting has been one of the most unique pro-wrestlers of all time. He got famous among the fans due to his charisma and his face paint. Throughout his career, the legend has appeared with his face paint in and out of the ring. However, The Vigilante confirmed that he is making his last appearance with the paint this month.
Taking to Instagram, Arn Anderson revealed that Sting will make his last appearance in face paint on December 20 and 21. He will attend a fan meet-up in Pittsburgh, where he will officially retire his paint gimmick.
"December 20th & 21st in #Pittsburgh! Not only will I be at @animeversepa, but it will also be @stinger’s last-ever appearance in his face paint. Don’t miss it," he wrote.The WCW icon made the face paint popular in the 90s. He then used the same gimmick in TNA and WWE as well. The face paint gave his character a mysterious and eerie personality, something that fans always liked about him.
