WWE Champion Suddenly Pinned; Triple H Seemingly Undoing Major Mistake

This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown saw a reigning champion pinned in the main event of the night. The unexpected pinfall taken by the Women’s United States Champion, Chelsea Green, could seemingly be a creative correction by CCO Triple H.

Giulia and Kiana James faced Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre in tag team action on WWE SmackDown. Throughout the bout, the Japanese wrestler made gestures that showed she had her eyes on the Women’s US Championship.

The final moments of the match saw The Beautiful Madness take The Hot Mess down with a Missile Drop Kick. She then tossed Fyre over the top rope and landed The Northern Lights on Green to pin her. She even grabbed the Canadian wrestler’s face after the pin.

This decisive pin in a non-title, non-singles match suggests that Triple H likely wants to put the belt back on Giulia. The Japanese star held the title before Green but didn’t get to do much with it.

She wasn’t featured in any premium live events and only got a few matches with minimal screen time. If Giulia goes on to win the Women’s US Championship back, she would do so by defeating a dual champion, which could help her kick-start a strong run with the belt.

Another United States Champion was pinned on WWE SmackDown

Aside from Chelsea Green, the men’s United States Champion, Ilja Dragunov, also got pinned on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown. However, because The Mad Dragon lost a title match, he is no longer the champ and has been succeeded by Carmelo Hayes.

Dragunov gave Melo a direct opportunity for the gold instead of issuing an open challenge this week, since the latter’s previous open challenge was compromised by DIY’s interference.

Carmelo Hayes landed a First 48 and Nothing But Net in quick succession toward the end of the title bout, securing the win. With this, the 31-year-old finally got his hands on his first-ever main roster championship. It would be interesting to see what lies ahead for Melo.
