WWE will kick off a new era next Monday after John Cena bids goodbye at Saturday Night's Main Event XLII. But there's no era without the presence of stars from yesteryear.

WWE just announced when the biggest star of the PG Era and the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk, will make his return to the red brand.

The Best in the World has been going through a rough patch in his life, recently losing his furry friend, Larry. He hasn't been seen since losing the Men's WarGames Match at Survivor Series last month.

WWE cited an apparent injury as the reason behind his recent absence, but Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that the Chicago native was busy filming for his role in the Netflix rom-com "The Bodyguard."

During the commercial break on SmackDown tonight, it was announced that CM Punk will be returning on the December 15 edition of Monday Night RAW.

What's next for CM Punk in WWE?

CM Punk has yet to defend his World Heavyweight Championship since winning it at Saturday Night's Main Event on November 1.

He has a target on his back, especially after the mystery man helped Bron Breakker pin The Straight Edge Superstar at Survivor Series: WarGames.

The following night on RAW, Heyman announced that Breakker would be challenging Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship on the RAW on Netflix anniversary show on January 5, 2026.

There's no word on what Punk will be doing on next week's show, but he will pick up where he left off. Fans can expect him to come face-to-face with his next challenger.

Interestingly, PWInsider reported that CM Punk is slated to appear at Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend. WWE has a post-match celebration planned for John Cena, which could include some familiar faces.

As of this writing, there's no word on whether Vince McMahon would be present in the building. But his daughter, Stephanie McMahon, will be co-hosting the marquee show alongside Joe Tessitore.

Linda McMahon is also scheduled to make her presence felt. Will Vince McMahon reunite with John Cena one last time? Only time will tell.
