After struggling to stay healthy throughout the 2025 regular season, the Los Angeles Dodgers have taken note.
Prioritizing the health of the roster will be at the top of the Dodgers' priority list this offseason, but it could result in players missing time.
After pushing himself to the limits to capture Los Angeles' second straight World Series in 2025, two-time Cy Young Award-winning starter Blake Snell might need an extended period of rest.
Dodgers' Blake Snell could miss start of 2026 season due to heavy workload in World Series run
Snell, 33, was ready to put his health on the line in the final games of the Dodgers' World Series win against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The first-year Dodger pitched in 12.3 innings in the series, which included two starts and a relief appearance in the series-clinching Game 7 win.
"I was happy I was able to pitch the whole time," Snell told The California Post during a Dodgers charity event this offseason. "But it was tough."
He also mentioned that his arm was "tired" and "exhausted."
The result? Los Angeles has been slow with the left-handers' winter program this offseason, and although Snell is hoping to be ready for the start of the 2025 season. The answer is still awaiting.
"That is not seen as a certainty within the organization," said Jack Harris of the New York Post.
This process won't be seen as a major concern, but more like a precautionary approach as the Dodgers look to become the first team to win three straight World Series titles since the New York Yankees did it in 1998-2000.
