Two-thirds of the World Cup field will advance to the knockout stage, but plenty of spots and positioning are still up in the air with only two days remaining in the group stage.
On Friday, Groups G, H and I come into focus, with France and Spain among the teams taking the field with something on the line.
France and Spain both lead their groups through two matches, but neither has locked up the top spot just yet. Erling Haaland is looking to play spoiler against France, while Uruguay is hoping it all finally comes together against Spain with elimination on the table.
The Cinderella story of the tournament, Cape Verde, has a chance to automatically advance as Group H's second-place qualifier on Friday. Even if that isn't the case, a draw would likely put Cape Verde in position for one of eight third-place knockout stage slots.

Spain
Can clinch first place in Group H with a win over Uruguay in the final group stage match. A draw coupled with a Cape Verde win over Saudi Arabia would create a three-way tie atop the group.
Uruguay
Can clinch first place in Group H with a win over Spain and a Cape Verde loss or draw.
Cape Verde
Can rise to second place in Group H with a win over Saudi Arabia and Uruguay's defeat to Spain.
Saudi Arabia
Can rise to third in Group H with a win over Cape Verde and Uruguay's defeat to Spain.
