Parker's praise stemmed from a video of Mayfield expressing his thoughts on how the narratives around him have changed throughout his career.

"Early on in my career it was looked as cocky, immature, now it's moxie, he's a dog, so it's same s*it differet day as long as you play well they change the narrative but you just got to be yourself and I have always been like that," he expressed.

Continuing to express his views on the changing narratives, Mayfield expressed how he was always going to be the same person at the core.

"At the core, (I am ) definitely the same. Mature in different ways not worried about the little things that really don't matter," he continued.

Mayfield remarks on the narratives that come amid his sensational run with the Buccaneers at the start of the season. The quarterback has been one of the best passers in the league and has racked up 1,767 passing yards while managing to record 1 touchdown.

Mayfield’s strong play has helped Tampa Bay lead the NFC South with a 5-2 record. Even after a loss to the Detroit Lions in their last game, he remains a top contender for the MVP, enjoying the best start of his career.

Baker Mayfield “confused” by officiating as Lions hand Bucs their second loss

However, the game wasn’t short on drama, featuring several questionable calls from the officials. Baker Mayfield addressed the issue during his post-game press conference, admitting he was left “confused” by the officiating.

"Still pretty damn confused about the double review. Lot of things in that game that were a little questionable … when things I don’t deem are fair I’m going to let somebody know," he expressed.
