Wizards predicted to draft 6'9" 22.4 PPG ACC POTY, NCAA POTY candidate to create big man trio with Alex Sarr

The Washington Wizards made it clear that this is the last season they will be tanking, as they acquired two superstars in Trae Young and Anthony Davis this season. Now, with their 2026 Draft pick, they could get a stud.

Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman predicts the Wizards will try to gigantify their lineup, and draft Duke Blue Devils ACC Player of the Year Cameron Boozer at No.2 overall. Boozer is a 6’9” power forward, so they could shift him to small forward, and create a big man trio with him, Anthony Davis, and Alex Sarr.

“Cameron Boozer is now the only projected top-four pick left in the NCAA tournament field, and scouts will be eager for another evaluation opportunity with Big East Defensive Player of the Year Zuby Ejiofor on deck. Still, there isn't much left Boozer can show to change the minds of scouts who visualize more upside with AJ Dybantsa and/or Darryn Peterson…But there's also a bandwagon of Boozer believers who simply buy the results, intangibles, in-game problem-solving and expanding versatility with his ball-handling and shooting. Though it's going to take the right, specific general manager for him to go No. 1, No. 3 still does seem like a worst-case outcome,” Wasserman wrote.

This past season with the Blue Devils, Boozer averaged 22.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 33.2 minutes per game. He’s also a playoff performer, as he led Duke to an ACC championship, and currently has them in the Sweet Sixteen of March Madness, set to face off against the St. John’s Red Storm.

A trio of Boozer, Davis, and Sarr would also be scary, as well. The three would tower in the paint, backing down defenders, driving to the lane, and getting blocks and rebounds on the defensive side.

Hopefully, the Wizards get their top-three pick, and create a team that’s ready to become a contender next season.
