Wings' Paige Bueckers puts historic streak on the line against the Liberty

Paige Bueckers' quiet but ruthless efficiency might reach unprecedented territory on Tuesday night.

In a showdown of two star-studded teams, Bueckers will lead the Dallas Wings into the Big Apple to take on Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty. The Wings already have won in New York this season; on May 24, Bueckers and Azzi Fudd combined for 48 points in an impressive 91-76 victory over the Liberty.

Both teams enter this matchup with identical 13-8 records, while Bueckers and Stewart are generating buzz as potential MVP candidates midway through the 2026 season.

Bueckers can bolster her case by recording a sixth successive game with at least 20 points on 50 percent shooting or better.

Bueckers can pass the Hall of Fame guard Katie Smith for the most such consecutive games in the history of the WNBA. Smith had five games in a row with 20-plus points on 50 percent shooting or greater during the 2003 season.

Named an All-Star starter alongside her Wings teammate Jessica Shepard last week, Bueckers is leveling up in her second WNBA season and is flirting with a 50-40-90 season.

Bueckers is shooting 52 percent from the field, 39 percent from 3-point range and 85 percent from the free-throw line. The Wings score 121.1 points per 100 possessions when she is on the floor, which ranks seventh in the WNBA among players who have played at least 500 minutes.
