The Jacksonville Jaguars won't have wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter in the lineup for a while.
Hunter suffered a non-contact knee injury in practice in Week 8 that led to his being placed on injured reserve, meaning he would have to miss at least four games.
However, based on reports and an update from the team, Hunter is going to be out a lot longer than that.
Here's the latest on Hunter's status for the rest of the season.
Will Travis Hunter return this season?
No, Hunter is not expected back in 2025.
According to ESPN's Michael DiRocco, the Jaguars have confirmed that Hunter's knee injury required surgery and he will miss the remainder of the season.
"Jaguars rookie receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his right knee Tuesday, the team announced," DiRocco reported on Nov. 11.
Hunter's surgery involved a repair of his lateral collateral ligament (LCL).
The good news is, there was no additional damage to his knee and the expectation is Hunter should be able to return to football activities within six months.
That means Hunter should be ready to go by May of next year, at the latest, when the Jags will take part in organized team activities.
Hunter had a mostly quiet rookie campaign on both sides of the ball, but he did have his best game of the 2025 season in his last game against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7 when he posted eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown.
The Jaguars, who have a ton invested in Hunter after trading up to draft him, are hoping that is a sign of things to come.
