Life in the dystopia of Gilead has hit a critical breaking point in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6.

Last week’s episode saw June (Elisabeth Moss) leading an undercover troupe of handmaids into Serena and Commander Wharton’s wedding, where they drugged and killed several of the commanders who directly oppressed them over the years. The gruesome revenge plot felt like a rare accomplishment for the handmaids, but this week’s episode of The Handmaid’s Tale was quick to remind viewers that it is rare to get a happy ending in a place like Gilead.

June’s allies are being picked off like flies as we near the finale of Season 6. Considering this has already proven to be one of the most dramatic seasons of the hit Hulu series, many fans are now wondering if this could be the end of our time in Gilead or if the show will be back for another season.

Here is everything we know about what is going to happen next in The Handmaid’s Tale.

How many episodes are in Season 6 of The Handmaid’s Tale?

There are 10 The Handmaid’s Tale episodes in Season 6. Unfortunately, there is only one episode left this season.

Season 6 marks the end of The Handmaid’s Tale series. This final season shows June, Luke, and Moira leading the resistance against Gilead, while her allies on the inside – like Commander Lawrence, Serena, Nick and Aunt Lydia – grapple with the role they’ve played in upholding this violent regime.

Though there will not be a Season 7 of The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu and FX have already announced that they will be adapting Margaret Atwood’s new book The Testaments, which is set 15 years after the events of the first book.

Ann Dowd will be reprising her role as Aunt Lydia for the series. She will be joined by Chase Infiniti who is playing Hannah, June and Luke’s daughter, and Lucy Halliday will be playing Daisy.
