“Will never understand why Flick never puts trust” - Barcelona fans thrilled after watching 29-year-old perform off the bench in 2-0 win vs Osasuna

Barcelona fans were in awe of Andreas Christensen’s cameo during their LaLiga match against Osasuna on Saturday. Hansi Flick’s side provisionally extended their lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 win at Camp Nou.

Barcelona started the match on the front foot, but the visitors employed an ultra-defensive setup that kept the Catalans at bay for a huge chunk of the game. After a goalless first half, the hosts came out with more intent after the break, and their efforts finally paid off in the 70th minute when Raphinha rifled from 20-yard out into the bottom corner.

Five minutes from time, Jorge Herrando thought he had brought Osasuna back level, but his goal was ruled out for a foul on goalkeeper Joan Garcia. Shortly after, Raphinha scored his second of the night, tapping home after a deflected ball fell into his path.

Despite coming on in the 88th minute for Alejandro Balde, Christensen earned the plaudits of fans for his brief outing against Osasuna, with one writing:

“Christensen is so clinical at the back I mean he's the only experienced and real CB we've right now but why does Flick keep benching him???”

Another tweeted:

“Did anyone see that Christensen tackle?! So easy man.”

A third added:

“Christensen is such an insane cb I wish he wasn’t made of glass.”

One questioned Hansi Flick about why he has often given the former Chelsea man only a few minutes in each game, saying:

“I still will never understand why Flick never puts trust into Christensen he’s such a great player and solid CB.”

Hansi Flick lauded Raphinha for his heroics in their hard-fought victory against Osasuna at home. The Brazilian winger emerged as Barcelona’s knight in shining armor after Osasuna’s defense proved a hard nut to crack.

Speaking to reporters after the match, the German tactician told reporters:

“He's very important for the team. It's important that he scored two goals, to take another step forward. He's a key player for the team.”

On the match, he added:

“The most important thing is the three points. We controlled the game, we were solid defensively, maybe we didn't have many chances, but we scored two goals.”

The result meant Barcelona opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the LaLiga table.
