Will Jeff Capel be disciplined for actions in Pitt-Florida State game?

The Pittsburgh Panthers lost to the Florida State Seminoles, 82-70, on Wednesday night in Tallahassee. It was a battle of two talented ACC teams and it ended in a 12-point win for the Seminoles.

However, tempers flared after the game as Pitt head coach Jeff Capel was seen screaming at Florida State players as they headed into the tunnel. Florida State threw down two slam dunks in the final 30 seconds despite being up double-digits, and one came right before the final buzzer which seemed to bother Capel.

Players and coaches had to be restrained, and Capel was one of them as a video even showed him shoving a Florida State player who was trying to break up the altercation.

As such, that begs a big question: Will the ACC discipline Jeff Capel for his actions?

A year ago, Alabama coach Nate Oats went viral for shoving a Missouri player during the game, but he did not receive any fines, rather just a reprimand from the SEC.

In December 2024, the ACC handed down fines and reprimands for four college football programs: North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia and Virginia Tech for pregame altercations.

This one between Pitt and Florida State involved numerous players, coaches, and the Pitt head coach, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Capel receive some sort of punishment from the conference or the school itself.

Pitt is right back at it on Saturday against Clemson at home, so it will be interesting to see what the ACC decides to do.
