Will Garrett Wilson return in Week 10? Latest injury update on Jets wide receiver

2 hours ago 1

The New York Jets haven't had wide receiver Garrett Wilson on the field since the Week 6 loss to the Denver Broncos.

Wilson sustained a hyperextended knee injury in that contest and hasn't practiced since and has now missed two games in a row, which leaves his status at least somewhat in doubt with the Jets coming out of their bye.

But there is optimism surrounding Wilson's status this week as the Jets prepare to take on the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in Week 10.

Here's everything we know.

Will Garrett Wilson return in Week 10?

Not long after Wilson sustained his injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Wilson was expected to miss "a couple of weeks," which he has already done following two games and a bye.

"An MRI today revealed that Jets WR Garrett Wilson hyperextended his knee and he now is expected to miss, as one source said, 'a couple of weeks,'" Schefter reported.

Another reason for optimism for Wilson's status this week is the fact that head coach Aaron Glenn announced that Wilson would take part in practice on Wednesday, although he didn't go into more detail than that.

“He’s going to practice this week, so I’m looking forward to him getting out and practicing,” Glenn said. “Let’s see how that goes during the week. I don’t want to place too much on him right now, but I’m excited about him getting out there and being able to practice.”

When putting it all together, it's pretty clear that Wilson has a better than 50/50 shot to suit up on Sunday against the Browns. We'll know more on Wednesday, when the Jets drop their first injury report in the afternoon.

If Wilson doesn't play, there is no Jets wide receiver you can trust.

Josh Reynolds would probably be the best bet, but he's also dealing with an injury and we wouldn't trust him if he was healthy, anyway. That leaves Arian Smith and newly-acquired Adonai Mitchell, but neither one can be trusted in the slightest.
