The biggest sporting event in the world, everyone wants to see the World Cup live. But as kickoff approaches, many are still looking for tickets to see their favorite team. The ticket lottery process left many questions. The biggest of all – will ticket prices get any cheaper?
The Sporting News breaks it down for you with World Cup ticket prices, how to buy and a schedule of matches this summer.
Will FIFA World Cup 2026 tickets get cheaper?
If you're wondering if FIFA World Cup tickets will get cheaper as the tournament nears, the answer isn't as simple as yes or no.
FIFA is utilizing "dynamic pricing" in its ticket sales, a common tactic used for live events. Because dynamic pricing changes based on factors like demand, the more popular an event is, the more expensive it is. As a result, the 2026 World Cup is pricier than ever seen before.
So, does it benefit fans to wait to buy tickets?
According to Ticketdata, USA group stage game prices have remained static since the draw in December. The match versus Paraguay consistently costs $1,300, Australia $1,000 and Playoff Team C $850, though that price will likely rise once the team is determined.
Since the draw, tickets to the final fluctuate between $8,800 and $7,500, but never less.
All in all, ticket prices are not expected to get cheaper between now and tournament start as constant demand will keep those costs high.
Never say never, though, as prices for the 2025 Club World Cup final dropped at the last minute.
