When the Seattle Seahawks take the field against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, they won't have the services of running back Zach Charbonnet.
A former second-round pick of the Seahawks in 2023, Charbonnet has proven to be a serviceable player during his three-year career and served in a timeshare with fellow running back Kenneth Walker during the 2025 campaign.
But Charbonnet hasn't suited up since the divisional round win over the San Francisco 49ers last month because of an injury.
Here's the latest on Charbonnet.
Why Zach Charbonnet isn't playing in Super Bowl
As previously mentioned, Charbonnet is recovering from injury, which is why he isn't suiting up for the Seahawks on Sunday.
Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL in the playoff victory over the 49ers, which knocked him out for the remainder of the playoffs.
Now, it remains unlikely that Charbonnet will be ready for the start of next season. If we apply the typical nine-month recovery timeline, the UCLA product may not return until October, at the earliest.
That presents a problem for the Seahawks, who already have a murky situation at running back going into the offseason thanks to the pending free-agent status of Walker.
Even if the Seahawks keep Walker, they might have to make another move at the position to account for Charbonnet's expected absence early next season.
The good news is, the Seahawks are flush with cap space, so they can afford to spend a significant amount of money at the position in 2026.
