The New York Yankees are going to be trade deadline buyers this season, and there are a few positions worth eyeing for this Yankees team.
Starting pitching likely won't be a need, but they could use some bullpen help, left side of the infield options, and maybe even outfield help if Aaron Judge's injury is serious. But, there's one other spot that's a need for the Yankees: Catcher.
Mike Axisa of CBS Sports linked the Yankees to one catcher trade target, Minnesota Twins' Ryan Jeffers. Amid this link, it's looking like the Yankees might actually have an easy path to trade for Jeffers this season.
Why Yankees might have an easy time trading for Ryan Jeffers
"The Yankees are getting very little from Austin Wells offensively," Axisa writes. "Would they jump into the bidding for Jeffers in a depressed market, especially since there are only so many other ways they could realistically improve their team?"
The mention of a "depressed market" is key for a potential Jeffers trade being easy for the Yankees. They have no qualms about making trades for players they could use, and Jeffers fits the bill with Austin Wells' struggles this season.
Jeffers, a rental catcher who is currently injured, would be a lot easier to trade for than some other players might be this season, despite posting a .949 OPS before landing on the injured list.
His injury is a big deal and will take some suitors off the table. But, looking around the league, the other landing spots are very thin.

The Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Guardians, and Seattle Mariners are very likely not going to be involved due to having their own solid catcher options.
Axisa noted that the San Diego Padres and Tampa Bay Rays are possible landing spots for Jeffers, other than the Yankees. Add in the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the options for the Twins in the trade market are slim.
This lackluster trade market for catchers in general is good news for the catcher-needy Yankees. The path to trading for Jeffers is a lot easier than for most other players available at the deadline.
