The Mavericks are yet to comment on the situation, per Harrod. Williams played in Dallas' first two games this season. He was part of the injury list in the past two games due to "personal reasons."
The first game he missed, a 139-129 win over the Toronto Raptors, was a day after his reported arrest. The 6-foot-1 guard was also out in Monday's 101-94 loss to the OKC Thunder.
Williams is yet to score in 19 total minutes played this season. In 2024-25, he played 33 games and averaged 8.3 points and 2.3 assists on 52.1% shooting. Towards the end of last season, Dallas converted Williams' two-way contract into a standard two-year deal.
Mavs HC Jason Kidd expects Brandon Williams to vie for backup guard minutes
Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said that his staff is still figuring out their guard rotation, which includes D'Angelo Russell, Brandon Williams and Ryan Nembhard.
"It’s a combination of what we see in games and in practice," Kidd said on Saturday. "Right now, we’re trying to play both. Ryan had a really good preseason, and Brandon was hurt, so we’re trying to get him in rhythm too. Eventually, we’ll have to make a decision, but for now, both will get minutes until one takes control."Russell has come off the bench in all of the Mavericks' games this season. 2025 No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg has been the team's starting point guard, making the lineup one of the league's tallest.
Dallas is 1-3 this season and will next face the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. Brandon Williams is listed as questionable (personal reasons) for that game.
