Why Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding is estimated to cost millions

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce might be footing a large bill for their wedding.

The couple is rumored to get married over the summer at Madison Square Garden, and TMZ reports that they are not getting a special price due to their celebrity status. The outlet has learned that they will be paying "full price," which is estimated to cost millions. 

Swift and Kelce are looking to rent out the iconic New York City venue for three days so that they are able to set up the first day, get married on the second day and then the final day for cleanup. It's estimated that the total event venue pricing will be at $1 million a day. 

The pricing is similar to what luxury wedding planner, Sonal Shah told The New York Post in a June 6 report.

“I would expect the cost of renting Madison Square Garden for a Saturday-night wedding to be approximately $1 million to $2.5 million before you even begin building the wedding itself,” Shah told the outlet.

“But for a celebrity wedding of this scale, the venue fee would likely be just a fraction of the overall budget.”

Shah has over a decade of experience in the wedding planning space and figures that there will be other costly aspects other than the venue that will come into play, like security and staff to start.

“A weekend night at one of the most iconic venues in the world is not just about renting the space — you’re also paying for exclusivity, staffing, security, operations, and the opportunity cost of a concert or sporting event that could otherwise be taking place,” she said.

It is estimated that the couple will have 1,000 guests to celebrate their big day. While the guest list has not been confirmed, it's likely that Swift's A-list friends like Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid will make an appearance as well as Kelce's teammate Patrick Mahomes and brother Jason Kelce will be in the mix. Guests are reportedly being contacted via a text or phone call as physical invitations will not be handed out.

Swift and Kelce's wedding will reportedly take place on July 3, according to Page Six.
