The National Football League has been expanding its games overseas in recent years, and it has begun branching into new countries.
And recently, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported, the New Orleans Aints were announced as the team acting as the "host" team for a game in Paris, France, this upcoming season.
This decision from the NFL, to bring the Saints to Paris for the league's first game in France, couldn't have been a better pick. New Orleans and France are linked in history, with their cultures intertwined since the 1700's.
NFL made perfect choice with Saints as 'home team' for Paris, France game
The owner of the Saints, Gayle Benson, said, "This moment is special not only because of the strong cultural connection between Louisiana and France, but also because we will compete before a growing Saints fan base in Paris."
The ties between New Orleans and France have been well documented, with the French pedigree holding up even after it was sold by France to America. French culture is ingrained in the New Orleans culture, even after hundreds of years.
That French connection has lasted for a very long time, and now, with the Saints being the NFL team in the city, it's a very fitting decision by the NFL to make the Saints the league's first team to play in France.

This game will take place at the French national stadium, Stade de France, in Paris. While their opponent isn't official just yet, there have been rumors that the Cleveland Browns would be coming with the Saints to France for the NFL's first game in the country.
Tyler Shough, Chris Olave, and the newly refurbished Saints look poised to make a turnaround, and they could showcase their resurgence in front of a French crowd that has some ties to New Orleans.
Naming the Saints the "home" team for this France game is a very wise and perfect decision from the NFL. No other team would've been as good a fit, and there's plenty of reason for fans to get excited about this pairing next year.
