Is that Rob Gronkowski?

Indeed it is. Gronk is at Game 2 of the NHL's Eastern Conference semifinals between the Buffalo Sabres and the Montreal Canadiens. He's repping the Sabres at the KeyBank Center.

And yes, Gronk starred in the NFL for Buffalo's division rival New England Patriots before also shining for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

But it also makes perfect sense that he's in the house for this one.

Why is Gronk at the Sabres game?

Rob Gronkowski is rooting for Buffalo at this hockey game because he's a local.

He was born in Amherst in Western New York, and he attended Williamsville North High School in the Buffalo area.

His family was a fixture in the local sports scene as all the Gronkowski brothers grew up.

So it makes sense that Gronk would be a Sabres fan.

Rob Gronkowski stats vs. Bills

Gronk being local doesn't mean he took it easy on the Bills, though.

He had a 14-2 career record against Buffalo.

In 16 games essentially amounting to a full season, he had 74 catches for 1,132 yards and 12 TDs against the Bills.
