Despite a narrow Game 1 defeat, the San Antonio Spurs came back with a vengeance to even the series before they traveled to Minneapolis for Game 3.
On Friday, the Minnesota Timberwolves will host the Spurs from their home arena, a place they have yet to lose a playoff game in. San Antonio has been flying to start these playoffs, with the third-highest scoring offense across the field (113.9 PPG). They also happen to allow the second-fewest points to an opponent, largely thanks to Victor Wembanyama's presence on the defensive end (99.9 PPG allowed).
While he was able to return just three games after hyperextending his left knee, the Timberwolves have still been using Anthony Edwards cautiously. In both games of this series, Edwards has played only 25 minutes or fewer. This has created more minutes for second-year guard Terrence Shannon Jr., who has finished in double digits in both Games 1 and 2, albeit not efficiently.
Minnesota's main path to victory is obviously limiting the damage Wembanyama deals. That has proven to be one of the hardest tasks to be successful in, but this is playoff basketball. While Minnesota is undefeated at home during these playoffs, San Antonio also has yet to drop a game on the road. One of those streaks will come to an end on Friday night.
