Why Rickea Jackson isn't playing today for Sky with injury news

In the early going this season, Rickea Jackson is leading the Chicago Sky in scoring.

She won't be playing in a while to get a chance to add to that, though.

Jackson is out Wednesday night, and for the foreseeable future.

The Sky will have to figure out how to navigate without their talented forward.

Why isn't Rickea Jackson playing tonight?

Jackson is out due to a season-ending injury.

She tore her left ACL on May 17 while taking on the Minnesota Lynx.

The Sky announced the diagnosis on May 19.

"We're devastated that Rickea suffered this injury, but we are confident she will make a full recovery," Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a statement. "Rickea was playing at an All-Star and All-Defensive level early in the season. We are certain she was primed for a career year. Our world-class medical staff will work hard with Rickea, who is one of the toughest players in the league, to get her back on the court."

The Sky were in their first season with Jackson, who was an offseason trade acquisition.

In her small chunk of action this season, Jackson averaged 18.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 blocks per game.

At the time of the injury announcement, the Sky held a 3-1 record.
