Where is Emma Meesseman? Match clear as Fever need frontcourt player with open roster spot

18 hours ago 4

Potentially the most talented women's basketball player not under contract in the WNBA at the moment is Emma Meesseman.

After playing part of last season for the New York Liberty, she's currently a free agent. Indiana Fever fans want them to pursue Meesseman with their currently open roster spot.

The Fever don't have much frontcourt depth at all behind Aliyah Boston's starting center spot, and Meesseman could make sense on paper.

But at the moment, there's been no real indication that the Fever have a chance to sign Meesseman.

Indiana also only has a minimum contract it can offer, which might not be enough for Meesseeman, who played for a prorated $249K last season with the Liberty.

Where is Emma Meesseman?

Meesseman has focused her recent playing on her action in Europe.

At the club level, she just won the EuroLeague with Fenerbahce in Turkey.

At the international level, she continues to play for her country of Belgium.

It doesn't necessarily seem like Meesseman is in a rush to come to the WNBA.

Last season, she didn't sign with the Liberty until midseason, so even if she does end up in the W this year, maybe it won't be until later in the year when she has a better read on the best opportunity available to her.

Fever fans can dream, but it seems like whatever frontcourt addition they make at the moment won't be as exciting as Meesseman.
