Why playoffs have arrived early for Ravens' Lamar Jackson

We are at the end of October, but there is already a playoff-like feel to the Baltimore Ravens' season, given their 2-5 record.

Yes, the win over the Chicago Bears kept the wolves at bay for one week, but with only 10 games left in the season and likely eight wins needed to punch their playoff ticket, there is no margin for error in Baltimore.

Lamar Jackson is back for Thursday night's game against the Miami Dolphins, which the Ravens have to win to keep their season, which is already on life support, alive for another week.

And Jackson revealed that the entire team is taking each game as a win-or-go-home contest.

“Yeah, coach pretty much touched on talking about that with us in the team meeting,” Jackson said. “Each and every game going to be a win-or-go-home game. First season ever starting off this slow. So, just do or die right now, each and every week.”

Ravens face do-or-die Dolphins game

Baltimore has to win. That is the brutal truth. If not, the playoffs, which already seem unlikely, could be out of reach.

The one thing the Ravens have going for them is that in the division, no one is taking it and running with it.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were at 4-1, but after losing the last two, the Ravens are only two games behind them for the division lead. Plus, Baltimore still has to play the Steelers twice.

So, the Ravens might not need to get to 10 wins to secure playoff football; they just have to win the division, which, despite their 2-5 record, is still a possibility.

But they must take care of Miami first.
