Behren Morton is joining the New England Patriots.
And yes, he's a quarterback.
The Pats took him in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday.
Is it a weird pick? It actually isn't. Drake Maye needs guys behind him.

Why did the Patriots draft a QB, Behren Morton?
The Patriots needed a quarterback.
Entering the draft, they had just two QBs under contract.
Maye is the starter. They still have Tommy DeVito, too.
But most teams want at least three quarterbacks at this point in the year, but the Pats had just two.

The main question is why they picked Morton over LSU's Garrett Nussmeier, but clearly Nussmeier is sliding for reasons beyond what are currently know.
He'll try to be QB3 to begin his career, and he'll hope to move up to being a long-term backup behind Maye.
