The Green Bay Packers, following a Week 7 loss to the Detroit Lions, are now 4-3 on the year. That's not a bad record at this point in the season, especially since the Packers have dealt with a litany of injury issues and don't have Micah Parsons back.
But there is one overarching issue for the Packers right now: they play in maybe the best division in the NFL. The Minnesota Vikings are 6-0, and the Chicago Bears are 5-2. The Lions, who just beat the Packers, are 4-2.
Unfortunately, as ESPN's Rob Demovsky highlighted, the Packers might be in some trouble this season with the challenging NFC North and a competitive Wild Card field.
Packers might be in trouble in 2026 after Week 7 loss to Lions
"Where are the Packers in the NFC North pecking ordeR? The short answer: They're in trouble," Demovsky writes. "... They're 1-2 against NFC North teams."
With the Packers already struggling to get wins over their NFC North opponents, losing to the Vikings and Lions, the Packers are already behind in tie-breakers for a playoff spot.
If the season ended today, before Week 8, the Packers would make the playoffs, but only as a Wild Card team. But both the Vikings, Lions, and Bears would be ahead of them in the standings.
With the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams also presenting a real threat to take an NFC Wild Card spot, with the 6-1 San Francisco 49ers in control of the NFC West, the Packers could fall out of the playoff field this season, and it wouldn't be a surprise.

The Packers' wins this season have come over the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Bears (without Caleb Williams), and the Dallas Cowboys.
Seeing how their next three games go might give an indication of how things will go the rest of the year for Green Bay.
They face the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football, followed by the New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings before their Week 11 bye.
After that, the Packers still have to face the Rams, Buffalo Bills, Bears, Lions, and the Houston Texans before the end of the season. While they also face the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins, this schedule to end the year isn't easy.
Sitting in last place in the NFC North, already behind all three teams in the division, the Packers might be in trouble. While it's too soon to write the Packers off, there's enough reason to worry about Green Bay's odds of making the playoffs this season.
