Starz‘s Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 Episode 2 “The Veil of Time” introduces a brand new love interest for a fan favorite character.

In this week’s all-new episode of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, Brian (Jamie Roy) and Murtagh (Rory Alexander) willingly go to Castle Leoch, but not to reunite with Ellen (Harriet Slater). No, they enter the heart of MacKenzie territory to announce that Lord Lovat (Tony Curran) has rallied his troops to fight alongside them for the Jacobite cause. Of course, before Brian and Murtagh can share this, they get into fisticuffs with Dougal (Sam Retford) and his pals.
When Mrs. Fitz (Sally Messham) discovers her injured nephew, she naturally begins to fuss. However, while she fetches medical supplies, she entrusts him to Jocasta Cameron’s (Sadhbh Malin) new maid, Grace Cameron (Ruby Fubara). Sparks immediately fly between Murtagh and Grace — and Jocasta sees them.
DECIDER recently caught up with Outlander: Blood of My Blood executive producers Matthew B. Roberts and Maril Davis and they explained why it was time to introduce a brand new character to be a brand new love interest for Murtagh in Season 2.
“As soon as we broke his heart last year Rory [Alexander] just felt like a puppy that needed a home,” Matthew B. Roberts said. “So we thought about it, and putting [Grace] in Jocasta’s world also felt very organic to creating more and more story.”
“They have a lovely relationship. It blossoms, I think, over the season. It’s going to be really cool to watch them develop this. It was fun writing it and breaking the story for it.
“Also, we talked about casting young Murtagh and Rory [last season],” Maril Davis said. “Everyone forgets that Murtagh became that way, curmudgeonly, as we saw in Outlander. What led to that?”
“Matt has always said this: we were keen to see young, hopeful Murtagh, which Rory has portrayed now, but what led to him becoming that way? And we’re seeing some of that. He was in love and there was a time when he was hopeful. So it’s fun to see that for him.”

Outlander Season 2 Episode 2 Ending Explained: Who is Grace? Meet Ruby Fubara
Who is Grace Cameron? Well, we don’t know much about the new character, but she is a new maid in the Cameron household. It’s perhaps worth noting that she has an English accent, like Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and her parents. Could it be that she’s also a time traveler? Or is she simply an English girl who has fallen on hard times, leading her to travel vast distances to Scotland? (I’m betting there’s some kind of twist!)
Grace is not a character we meet or hear about in the main Outlander series, which means she was created for Outlander: Blood of My Blood. That also seems to be a hint that she and Murtagh’s romance — and Matthew B. Roberts confirmed they are setting up a love story — will end tragically.
Grace Cameron is played by actress Ruby Fubara, who coincidentally has also played a “Grace” on the show, Breeders. She does not appear to have a public social media account.
According to Roberts, Fubara “hit the ground running” on the series.
“She just embodied exactly what we wanted in Grace, and I think it’s going to be a great addition to the love stories on Outlander,” he said.
