Why NFL fans weren't happy with Jason Kelce's commentary during Pro Bowl

1 hour ago 2

The NFL is currently focusing more on boosting visibility and drawing in viewers rather than just traditional seasonal success, which makes this shift easier to understand.

Since the Pro Bowl Games now air on a Tuesday evening and aren't the main headline event they used to be, the main goal has become creating excitement and anticipation.

In an attempt at this, the NFL has former NFL player Jason Kelce with the microphone for the Pro Bowl.

The Sporting News has all you need to know about Kelce's commentary debut.

Jason Kelce commentary debut

The 2026 Pro Bowl Games broadcast on ESPN features play-by-play announcer Scott Van Pelt, with color commentators Dan Orlovsky and Kelce.

The coverage includes the flag football game and different skills challenges.

While Orlovsky has been in the booth before, this marks the first time for SVP and Kelce. SVP is primarily on the studio host side and has much more experience than Kelce.

Reaction to Jason Kelce commentary

Fans expressed considerable disappointment with the way the Pro Bowl is being broadcast. Kelce was notably loud at specific moments during the game, which probably explains why the NFL prioritized his presence to bring energy.

Kelce also joked about missing the voice of his former quarterback, Jalen Hurts. Below are some reactions and Kelce's calls from the Pro Bowl.

The Pro Bowl was always the worst of all star games. But being its a flag football game where no one is going more than 1/2 speed, its unwatchable.

Add in the horrific commentary by Jason Kelce makes it hot garbage. Time to switch back to St Johns game.

Jason Kelce should not be on a broadcast ever. He’s just a bully. The NFL is clearly trying to grow the flag football game, and he’s out here just saying whatever pops in his mind. Bruh.
