Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got married last week, and fans finally know why Lana Del Rey was not present.
Swift and Kelce said "I do" at Madison Square Garden on July 3 in front of 1,000 guests. While the "Summertime Sadness" star was there to witness Swift and Kelce's nuptials, the singer was indeed in celebration, but for her sister. The Grammy-nominated singer hosted a party for her friend, Oli Abbas.
“My birthday was such an amazing day,” Abbas wrote in a July 8 Instagram post, “surrounded by my favorite people.”
Abbas then shared that Del Rey and her sister, Caroline Grant, were behind the celebration as hosts of the event. The "Young and Beautiful" singer commented back on the post detailing that they've been celebrating around the time of Swift and Kelce's wedding.
“Ahh we love you so much, best weekend ever,” Del Rey responded. “Thank you guys for coming and hanging with us on the fourth and celebrating your birthday a little early and for the next day also! Double wishes.”
Swift and Del Rey collaborated on "Snow on the Beach," which is featured on the "Cruel Summer" singer's Midnights album. While they only have one song together, they recorded two versions of the same track, with the second variation with an extended part from Del Rey titled "Snow on the Beach" (featuring More Lana Del Rey). The longer version is featured on the 2023 deluxe Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition).
Who else was missing from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding?
Lana Del Rey was not the only celebrity missing from Swift and Kelce's wedding who was invited. Ryan Seacrest shared that he did not attend Swift's wedding after initially RSVP'd "yes."
“It was a confidential invitation to everybody that was invited. So when you were doing your reports about the wedding, I was just on the inside screaming, outside very composed,” Seacrest said to his On Air With Ryan Seacrest co-hosts. “I RSVP’d to go, and then Disney hired me to do the 4th of July 250 special on the 3rd and the 4th, so I had to cancel.”
Charles Barkley also shared that he decided not to attend noting that, "I don't go to weddings," Barkley told the "Unfiltered with Ricky Bo & Bill Colarulo" podcast. "I don't go to weddings or funerals.
While Barkley and Seacrest were among the bigger names who could not come to the couple's weddings, The Garden was not low on supply of star-studded guests. Simone Biles, Tom Brady, Selena Gomez, and Gigi Hadid were among the names who attended the ceremony last week. Additionally, Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony and guests were able to watch performances from Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney.
