Well, if the New York Knicks weren't already active after moving pick No. 24 to the Los Angeles Lakers for pick No. 25, they surely are now!
According to the latest report, the Knicks actually made a slew of trades on Tuesday night. Instead of keeping No. 25 pick Sergio De Larrea, the Knicks sent him to the Dallas Mavericks for No. 30 Koa Peat and two second-rounders. The Knicks then sent him to the Phoenix Suns for more.
"Sources: New York traded No. 25 pick Sergio De Larrea to the Dallas Mavericks for No. 30 Koa Peat and two second-round picks. And then the Knicks traded Peat to the Phoenix Suns for three-rounders and cash. So Knicks move out of the first round -- pick up 3 seconds and cash," Shams Charania wrote.
Picking up three seconds and some money along the way isn't a bad idea for the Knicks. Frankly, it makes a lot of sense. Most players, late in the first round, weren't going to crack the Knicks' rotation right now.
It'll be interesting to see whether the Knicks do anything on Wednesday in the second round, or how this impacts some of their free agents this summer.
For now, though, New York got creative and added some more assets along the way.
