It's been apparent in recent years that the Kings are in rebuild mode, and they've continued to show that with several roster moves they've made.
The latest came on Monday, as the Kings decided to part ways with a former All-Star forward.
Why Kings waived DeMar DeRozan
After ending a 17-year playoff drought in 2023, the Kings have gone back to being one of the bottom-tier teams in the NBA.
They've missed the playoffs for the last three seasons and have acquired and parted ways with some questionable players/contracts.

On Monday, the Kings ended their relationship with DeRozan, making him a free agent.
DeRozan was more than a serviceable player for the Kings, but in their attempt to transition back to being a competitive team eventually, dumping DeRozan's contract was a part of that formula.
It's been rumored for a while that this would happen, and they even tried trading him first, but couldn't find a team willing to take on his contract.
He'll likely receive more interest on the free agent market now, as teams can sign him for a cheaper deal.
We could expect Zach LaVine to potentially be next, as he's another large contract the Kings may look to part ways with in either a trade or by waiving him.
In DeRozan's two years with the Kings, he averaged 20.3 points and 4.3 assists in 154 games.
