Why Kelly Ripa's Neighbor "Lodged a Complaint” Over Halloween Candy

Kelly Ripa's Halloween didn't end on such a sweet note.

The daytime talk show recounted how she handed out candy to trick-or-treaters this spooky season, revealing that she actually received a "complaint" from a New York neighbor over how she handled the task.

"We ran out of candy twice, and had to reorder on the fly," she shared the Nov. 4 episode of Live With Kelly & Mark. "Interestingly enough, yesterday a woman came up to me and sort of lodged a complaint that we ran out early. An adult woman!"

According to the 55-year-old, the woman approached her asking, "'What happened to your candy this year?'"

"She said, 'Well, you ran out,'" Ripa recalled. "I go, 'What time did you come?' She said, 'Around 8:30 at night.'"

But for Kelly, that seems to be a reasonable time to run out of treats.

"I said, 'No, it's over then,'" she continued. "'You'll have to come earlier next year.'"

And her husband Mark Consuelos agreed, quipping to his wife, "I wish I would've received that complaint."

But there's a reason why Kelly's candy stockpile gets depleted so quickly on Halloween. As she previously explained, she hands out more than what's traditionally expected to appease even the pickiest of trick-or-treaters.

"I put two candy bars in each bag," the Days of Our Lives alum shared on her talk show in November 2023. "I was tired of the ingrate children going, 'I don't like that candy bar. Can I have this candy bar?'"

She continued, "This way, you get a bag, move on."

Still, she and Mark can't please everyone. Take the couple's neighbor in Long Island, who they said once complained about their choice in Halloween music.

"They complained about a Halloween party back in 1999," Mark shared in October 2023. "We got a noise complaint."

According to the Riverdale actor, the neighbor told police that "there was too much 'Monster Mash' playing."

"The party was from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.," he added. "It was a kids' party."
