Johan Manzambi has been one of the breakout stars of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Initially just a bench option for Switzerland, he has forced himself into the starting 11 with impressive play in helping the Swiss to the Round of 16, where they match up with Colombia on Tuesday.
Except it'll now be up to Switzerland to get to the quarterfinal without Manzambi.
When the Swiss lineup came out, Manzambi wasn't in it -- and it turns out he's not going to play any role.

Why isn't Johan Manzambi playing today?
Manzambi is out of action due to a late injury.
Sky Sport reported that Manzambi hurt his knee in the final Swiss training session before the Colombia match.
The Sky Sport report adds that it was seemingly a non-contact injury, which clearly isn't a good sign.
Wow. Johan Manzambi out for Switzerland today vs. Colombia. That's a huge miss. He has been one of the breakout players of this World Cup. https://t.co/tsIsGwzqxp

Manzambi is a speedy playmaker on the wing who poses a lot of problems for opposing defenses.
Switzerland doesn't necessarily have another player like him, and this is a huge blow to their chances of moving forward in the World Cup.
