Jeremie Frimpong is an impactful right back who showed his skill for Liverpool in the most recent English Premier League season.
Despite that, he won't be playing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the Netherlands.
Frimpong seemed like a logical selection, but when the final team came out, he wasn't in the squad.
The Dutch side have plenty of talented defenders without Frimpong, but it's an omission that could look worse if the Netherlands defense isn't as airtight as they'd like it to be.

Why isn't Jeremie Frimpong playing at the World Cup?
Frimpong was apparently deemed to be surplus to proceedings for the Netherlands.
He did have a bit of a stop-and-start season with Liverpool, impacted by injuries and some lineup rotation, so it's not as if he was in totally dominant form when it came time to select the team.
Still, given that he plays for one of the best clubs in the world and has a strong skillset, Frimpong seemed like he would take part.
Instead, the Netherlands went in a different direction.

Frimpong posted this on social media in disappointment:
It wasn’t meant to be this time, but I’ll be the first one supporting the boys every step of the way this summer 🧡 pic.twitter.com/MdCWUoioid
