Now is the best possible time for franchises to make a strong push for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, as the 2025-26 season is officially a thing of the past.

According to the Ringer’s Bill Simmons, the Boston Celtics are already ahead of the game, reportedly submitting an offer for the two-time MVP before the New York Knicks NBA Finals-clinching victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night.

"I think they (Celtics) dove in," Simmons said. "From what I heard, they made an offer (for Antetokounmpo) in the past week, a couple days before I mentioned it on Thursday. I don’t know what the offer was or who was in it, but hat was in the ring, which I was really surprised by as I said on Thursday, because I thought they were sitting it out."

While Simmons noted that the details of the Celtics’ offer to Milwaukee are unclear, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Jaylen Brown is likely at the forefront of the deal.

The 28.7 points-per-game contributor is the best trade chip the Celtics could use to help them outbid franchises such as the Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Golden State Warriors

Boston knows better than to make Jayson Tatum available in a potential blockbuster deal, making it near impossible to pry Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee without dangling Brown and his five-year, $285 million contract.

It’ll be interesting to find out more information about Boston’s full trade package for the No. 1 contributor on the trade market.
