Why Jacoby Brissett is playing QB for Cardinals vs. Cowboys

The Arizona Cardinals employ one quarterback who was formerly the No. 1 overall pick, and another who's a journeyman.

But it's the journeyman starting in primetime on Monday Night Football in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Jacoby Brissett gets the start to try to keep up with Dak Prescott and the high-powered Cowboys offense.

Kyler Murray will be on the sideline.

Why is Jacoby Brissett playing QB for the Cardinals?

Jacoby Brissett is playing quarterback for the Cardinals on Monday night because Kyler Murray is injured.

Murray remains on the sideline with a mid-foot sprain.

There's a chance Murray has a "role" on Monday night, according to a report from Adam Schefter.

But it's Brissett who is starting.

Brissett has made two starts this season so far.

On Oct. 12 against the Colts, he was 27-for-44 for 320 yards, two touchdowns and a pick.

On Oct. 19 against the Packers, Brissett was 25-for-36 for 279 yards and two TDs.

Across the two games, he combined for nine runs for 45 yards.

It's not clear how much longer Brissett will start, but he gets the chance with a big spotlight against the Cowboys.
